Mosaic sessions are held in my studio in Waltham, MA. It's
a creative and educational space, drenched in sunlight during the week day and Saturday sessions, and solid (albeit) superficial lights on the weeknight
evenings when we commence learning and creating mosaic art works.
Four classes costs $84.00, and includes the cost of most materials.
If you would prefer to come on a one-off basis, the cost is
$25.00/class.
Please e-mail me with all class inquiries! My e-mail address is arielfineltshoemaker@gmail.com.
All my classes are run on an on-going basis, so you can begin at any time there is space available. Let me know what day/times you would like to do and I will gladly let you know if there's space for you for that day of the week or that particular session.
Each class has no more than 8 people! There is plenty of time and space for individualized projects and attention from me!
The $84.00 covers MOST materials. You have use of all my tools (nippers, glue, various and sundry other gadgets) while on-site, plus all the tessarae (glass, and other materials used to make the mosaics--and I am certain you will find more than you could possibly want to use in my studio--most students are WOW-ed by the quantity and variety that I keep in stock), and 2 projects.
In the first session, I offer you a small project that is meant for pure practice. It's a 4" x 4" square that you will begin to understand technique on cutting, exploring materials, color, shape, etc. It's a pure practice piece, that allows us to begin a conversation surrounding the materials at hand, techniques used to create, design considerations--both practical and decorative--plus the historical versus contemporary approaches to making mosaics. I work individually with you on all this, while others in the class work on projects of their own choosing. During your second session, you may choose a project that is larger and perhaps more complex. Your second project is your choice. I have a variety of projects that you could make which the cost is rolled into the cost of the 4 classes. For instance, you can make a picture frame, build your own mirror, light switch covers, a trivet, a wall-hanging or occasional table-top.
